What is the link between creation and redemption? What responsibility do we as humans have in creation, and what practical actions we should take now to glorify Christ and advance his kingdom?
The L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture will host The Goodness of Creation and Human Responsibility — a Faith + Culture Forum designed to address these important questions.
In conjunction with this conference, we invited submissions of papers on topics relevant to the conference’s theme. The winning paper will be published in the Spring 2021 issue of the Southeastern Theological Review. The authors of the top three papers will also won cash prizes ($500, $300, and $200, respectively) and received an invitation to present their papers at the conference (30-35 minutes with 10-15 minutes of Q & A).
Today, we’re proud to announce the winners:
First Place: Jordan L. Steffaniak
Paper Title: Saving Masculinity and Femininity from the Morgue: A Defense of Gender Essentialism
Jordan L. Steffaniak (ThM, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary) is a PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Birmingham, UK. Jordan is co-founder, host, and producer of the London Lyceum, a weekly podcast and online center for analytic, baptist, and confessional theology. Jordan has published in academic journals such as Journal of Reformed Theology, TheoLogica, The Journal of Biblical and Theological Studies, and Jonathan Edwards Studies.
Second Place: Eddy Wu
Paper Title: Considering Moral Responsibility in Artificial Intelligence
Eddy Wu is a Ph.D. student in Christian Apologetics and Culture at Southeastern Seminary, where he works as the IT Operations Manager. He is interested in Christian engagement with technology and the problem of evil. He and his wife Erica live in Wake Forest with their 2 kids.
Third Place: Andrew J. Spencer
Paper Title: Substantial Healing: Recovering the Ecological Vision of Francis A. Schaeffer
Andrew J. Spencer holds a PhD from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a member of CrossPointe Church in Monroe, MI. Spencer writes often at Ethics and Culture and recently published ‘The Christian Mind of C. S. Lewis.’ He also serves as a Senior Research Fellow at The Institute for Faith, Work, and Economics.
